Salt in foods purchased at grocery stores down, but still high

US households decreased their salt intake from packaged food and store-bought beverages by about 18% between 2000 and 2014, during which time researchers found the salt content of the foods had fallen about 12%, according to a study in JAMA Internal Medicine. However, study leader Jennifer Poti says the salt content in packaged food and drinks remains too high and Americans still get too much of it.
