Calorie-restricted diet may slow aging, study says.

A calorie-restricted diet led to slower biological aging over two years, as measured by total cholesterol, blood pressure and hemoglobin levels, compared to a control group that didn’t restrict calories, according to a study in the Journals of Gerontology, Series A: Biological Sciences and Medical Sciences. Researcher Daniel Belsky at Duke University said the findings could be used in the development of therapies that mimic the effects of caloric restriction to prevent chronic disease.
